The main "problem" is that AdGuard DNS is a paid solution, because the Free license has limitations. Please refer to the Pricing page (https://adguard-dns.io/en/license.html), plus is a managed service that might block services or resources that you might want to whitelist (as far as I know... maybe I am wrong and they offer a whitelist solution but then it means each customer needs to have their own setup and IP addresses are limited).

My Pi-hole setup should be like a "plug-and-play" with the only requirement of changing the DNS resolver in your router or device. And you have full control of all the blocks because you can add lists or just blacklist domains.
