Have you ever wondered how much time or effort it takes to write Medium articles? I may not be using the most effective way, but I follow several steps before writing each article I post here.
1. Consider and find suitable topics
Choosing the right topic can take minutes, hours, or even days.
This is the most challenging part for me: finding topics I believe are interesting enough to invest time in writing an article and talking about it.
I usually rely on past experiences (either personal or work-related, where I ensure not to expose any confidential data), conversations I have had with friends and former colleagues, or (occasionally) asking for “killing topics” to different AI models to get some ideas and talk about them.
2. Pre-writing research
It’s necessary to get context and knowledge to avoid writing nonsense.
To me, it’s imperative to have context and (preferably) knowledge about someone’s writing. That’s why I dislike articles where people write nonsense because of their (obvious lack of knowledge).
